Man arrested after stuffing mother’s dead body into wardrobe

Georgetown: A drug addict who beat his mother to death and stuffed her body in her wardrobe while assaulting and injuring his four-year-old niece, on Thursday, at Murphy Street, Good Intent, West Bank Demerara (WBD) is in police custody.

Dead: Jennifer Anderson

Dead is 62-year-old Jennifer Anderson, called ‘Judith’, of Lot 21 Murphy Street, Good Intent. According to the police the woman was murdered on either Wednesday or Thursday while in her home. The suspect, who is currently in police custody assisting with investigations, is her son Devon Anderson, 38, also of that address.

Her body was found by the relative who visited the house.  The child was taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital with injuries to her abdomen; she was hospitalised.

Reports indicated that Anderson was home alone with the four-year-old when her son arrived behaving in a manner that would indicate he was “high on drugs”.

Residents said that the drug addict would normally steal items from his mother.

Mark Anderson, 42, called “Dan”, a mason of the said address (second house on same land) claimed that he was at home and was contacted by an individual, who related that Kemaya Anderson (the grand-daughter of the deceased) related to him that the suspect assaulted her and her grandmother.

He also stated that he saw that Kemaya had injuries (digs) to her right side jaw and chest area.

As a result, Mark went to the deceased home where he made checks for her and discovered her lying motionless face downwards on the floor in her north eastern bedroom.

The police were immediately summoned to the scene.

The body of the deceased was examined for any marks of violence and several small circular injuries were seen on the face and chest area.

Several persons were questioned in the area but no useful information was received.
