Mahaicony : The police responded to a report of the discharging of a loaded firearm at a function at Esau and Jacob, Mahaicony Creek, East Coast Demerara, where they found Mahendra Persaud, 29 years, in a yard with injuries to his face.
A 12 gauge shotgun and an empty casing were handed over to the police by persons who reported that Mahendra Persaud had an argument with a man during the function. He left and returned with the firearm and discharged a round, after which several persons took away the firearm. At this poit it is believed that Persaud received injuries about his body.
Persaud was taken for medical treatment at the Georgetown Public Hospital as the investigations continue.
