aloney: A Ministry of Works employee identified as Omatar Sharma has burnt to death in a vehicular accident this morning.
Investigators say Sharma was driving his yellow four door Toyota Hilux on the westbound lane of the highway in the vicinity of the Maloney lights when he attempted to overtake a truck.
His van collided with the left back bumper of the truck driven by Nazrool Asgarali. The Hilux swerved out of control, flipped and caught afire.
Colleagues and eyewitnesses attempted to rescue Sharma from the wreck but their efforts were in vain, as the fire consumed the vehicle with Sharma in it.
Sharma was stationed at the Arima stockpile and was on his way home when the accident occured.
Maloney police are investigating.
