Man found not guilty of gun charge.

Ian Young was found not guilty of throwing a gun from a speeding car, in the No.4 Supreme Court yesterday.

Young of St.Ann's Road, the Pine, St Michael was arraigned with having a 357 calibre revolver and six.38 calibre  bullets.

During the trail, the court heard from lawmen who said they chased a car in which young was a passenge, and  saw him opened one of the car's doors and threw a firearm outside.

The driver lost control of the vehicle which overturned, Young told the policemen that he had been kidnapped by four men.

According to the police officers who testified during the trial, Young changed his story and confessed to having and discarding the gun.

However Young denied any such thing and said the gun belonged to another man in the car.

He called a witness, Wendell Farrell who testified that it was he who had thrown the gun out of the car. 

The nine-member mixed jury took two hour to reach its unanimous decision of not guilty and Justice Dr. Sonia Richards told the accused,he was free to go.

Young was represented by attorney at law Arthur Holder, Senior Crown Counsel Roy Hurley prosecuted.
