Georgetown: Bandits on motorcycle shot and killed a 23 year old man on Thursday after he collected lunch at home and was driving through Middle Road, La Penitence Georgetown.
Dead is Navindra Samaroo of La Penitence Georgetown.
Reports indicate that he previously visited a commercial bank and the Guyana Revenue Authority to complete business transactions for his employer. He was returning to work when he was killed.
He was attached to G & J Phone Car Investments where he worked as a marketing representative. Samaroo’s employer Rampertab Etwaroo said he received the news after 13:00hrs that bandits shot his employee.
He acknowledged that Samaroo had gone to run errands at a commercial bank and the Guyana Revenue Authority before stopping home for lunch. However, the employer said he had not conducted any financial transactions.
His father said after receiving the devastating news, he visited the Georgetown Public Hospital where his son had already succumbed to his injuries.
“I was at work when I got the message from my niece, and I left and went to the hospital, and he had already died,” the father stated.
Regional Commander, Senior Superintendent Phillip Azore said the residents in the area are being tight lipped about what happened.
As such, the motive behind the shooting remains unclear at this time and details remain sketchy.
Detectives are still on the ground investigating and are hoping that CCTV footage may shed light on the murder.
Samaroo leaves to mourn his parents and his reputed wife.
