Georgetown : At about 8pm yesterday, the Police responded to a report of threats made on another man by Krishna Persaud, 45 years, of Sophia Front, East Coast Demerara, involving the use of a knife.
During efforts to arrest Persaud, he attacked the ranks with a cutlass resulting in injuries to Corporal Ramdat to his left hand and Constable Adams to his right index finger.
As a result the police had to resort to the use of force and Krishna Persaud was fatally shot.
Investigations are in progress.
