Manning calls for Warner’s dismissal from Cabinet

San Fernando: Former Prime Minister, San Fernando East Member of Parliament Patrick Manning is calling for Works and Transport Minister, former FIFA Vice-President Jack Warner to be removed as a Cabinet minister.

The San Fernando East MP has issued a statement saying Warner's resignation from FIFA is neither noble nor self-sacrificial but pure self-preservation, saying had he not resigned, the Ethics Committee would have pursued the charges against him and he might have been found guilty.

Manning beleives FIFA made Warner an offer he couldn’t refuse – resign from FIFA or be exposed.

Manning says the nation must not to be fooled, adding that Warner has not only humilated himself but the Cabinet of which he is a part.

He says Minister Warner is very aware of the harm being done to the nation, but hangs on to office, carelessly eroding the country’s hard-earned global reputation.

The former prime minister questions why he is being hailed as a hero. He says the former FIFA executive must not be allowed to run rampant and is suggesting that the Commissioner of Police seek the assistance of Interpol regarding any investigation and is even proposing a certain move to deal with Minister Warner in the Parliament through the Opposition's parliamentary caucus.

Manning says the prime minister has a moral duty to remove him forthwith from the Cabinet and wants the country to stand up for what is right.
