Port-of-Spain: The Manufacturers Assoiation says it is actively seeking to assist in arriving at a sustained solution to the core problems that affect the business community when there are problems at the port, as the negotiations between port workers and management continue to create problems.
The TTMA says it is ready to assume a leadership role in working with both the governent and the unions towards changing what it says are inefficient systems which impede the growth and development of the manufacturing sector.
The TTMA says it is well aware that port issues have been a perennial hindrance to the manufacturing sector's drive towards competitiveness and to this end it is calling for private sector involvement at the highest level of leadership and governance in an effort to not just resolve but redress all lingering issues at the port as a matter of urgency.
The TTMA is also calling for the implementation of best practices at the port that will help in achieving and surpassing productivity and efficiency targets.
