Georgetown: Dynamic Public Relations Officer, Marketing professional and letter writer, Harry Gill, is one of the 32 opposition Parliamentarians that will be sworn in when the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) finally goes to Parliament.
Mr. Gill recently returned to Guyana after living in the United States for over 22 years. His love of country and passion for politics influenced his decision to return home where he had hoped to make a meaningful contribution to the land of his birth. He was obviously pleased to be on the PPP/C Candidate’s list last election, and now sees this appointment as a step closer to bringing his dreams to fruition.
In an invited comment, Mr. Gill said, “Changes are best done from within. I am honored to be given the opportunity to serve my country and fellow Guyanese as a Member of the 11th Parliament.
The Granger Administration has a unique opportunity to do great things for all the people in every region. They’ve inherited a country that is the top economic performer in the Caribbean; a nation growing in prosperity; and a treasury that will allow them to continue the infrastructural development that has been the hallmark of the previous PPP/C Government. I will hold the Granger Administration accountable for the promises they’ve made on the campaign trail. I intend to be the voice of the voiceless and advocate for the less fortunate amoung us.”
Harry Gill is married and lives in D’Edward Village, West Coast Berbice. He has a background in marketing and public relations, and is an established graphic designer and photographer. He is currently working with the Ministry of Education to complete the layout and design of all text books and workbooks for nursery and primary education in the public school system.
The PPP also announced that Amerindian Rights Activist Yvonne Pearson will be joining the party as Members of Parliament. The two will be taking up the seats in the place of former Ministers Leslie Ramsammy and Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett who have both indicated their unavailability to serve as Members of Parliament.
The PPP/C has settled its list of 32 MPs for Parliament and former President Bharrat Jagdeo is Leader of the Opposition.
