Maraval: Heavy rainfall just after midday today wrecked havoc in Maraval. Several areas were completely flooded out, many seeing their vehicles swept away by the current.
The rainfall brought traffic going in and out of the area to a complete standstill for several hours. The popular Ellerslie Plaza was completely flooded out.
The Meteorological Office had earlier issued a warning of more heavy rainfall over Western Trinidad and advised citizens to be cautious and vigilant as they conduct their activities.
The Office says that local environmental conditions inclusive of strong uplift, light surface winds and significant heating over the course of this morning have presented very suitable conditions for intense thundershower activity.
This follows significant rainfall on Saturday that also resulted in flooding across Western Trinidad.
