The Cabinet of Barbados is expected to approve a master plan for the Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA) soon.
Minister of International Business and International Transport George Hutson, made the disclosure yesterday during a meeting of the International Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and the Eastren Caribbean 33rd Working Group.
Hutson said the plan has been competed and once it is presented Cabinet it will be laid in Parliament. he added that as part of the continuing improvement of the GAIA, the taxiway at the eastern end of the runaway has been extended to allow aircraft to use the full lenght of the runaway.
He added that the Government is evalucation a comprehensive restructuring plan for the Civil Aviation Department which will see the evolution of the department into a Civil Aviation Authority.
