Region Nine- Women, children and other vulnerable groups particularly elders received medical aid after heath officials flew into the area. Fearing the outbreak of water borne diseases, medical teams administered injections and other checkups in the flood hit areas of Tabachinga and St. Ignatius, Region Nine. Between Friday Evening to Saturday morning, the Takatu river swelled causing severe flooding in the region including areas such as Lethem, Rupununi and other surrounding communities. Now the Kwakwani in region ten has become inundated as a result of heavy rains and the overtopping of the Berbice River. Residents are severly affected as the water continue to rise daily.
