At about 12:45pm today the police responded to a report received that a man who appeared to be mentally unstable was in the Soesdyke Primary School armed with a cutlass and terrorizing students and teachers.
Upon their arrival at the scene, the armed man attacked the police with the cutlass and inflicted a wound to the left hand of Inspector Mohan Khan.
The police were forced to resort to the use of force and the man was shot and injured to his left shoulder.
He has been identified as Christopher Mc Cullen of Timehri Docks.
Inspector Mohan Khan and Christopher Mc Cullen have been taken for medical treatment at the Diamond Diagnostic Centre.
