East Coast Demerara : Today at around 6:00am, the police responded to a report made by Debbie Blair of Barnwell Street, Buxton, that her brother Brian Blair who is reported to be mentally unstable, was attacking her and other neigbouring residents with a knife that was attached to a mop-stick.
Upon arrival at the scene, and during efforts to arrest him, the police ranks were attacked by Brian Blair who was armed with the knife and a piece of wood, resulting in injuries to Corporal Andrews who was wounded to his right hand and head, and Constable Nicholson who was struck to his right hand and shoulder.
The police then resort to the use of force and Brian Blair was shot and injured to his right foot. He has been admitted a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital while the two injured policemen were treated and sent away.
