Georgetown:In relation to an article which was published in the Kaieteur News of Monday August 22, 2011, under the caption “Merai will only cooperate with int’l investigators – has informants to protect”, Assistant Commissioner Steve Merai is refuting the inference that he had revealed to “sources close to the controversial officer” statements made in the article.

It went on further to say that this is according to sources close to the controversial officer and that according to one reliable source, Merai is more inclined to cooperate with an international Commission of Inquiry.

According to a Guyana Police 00force statement,Assistant Commissioner Steve Merai wishes to inform the general public that at no time did he ever tell anyone that he is more inclined to cooperate with an international Commission of Inquiry and was not willing to cooperate with local police investigators.
