North West District: The police are investigating the murder of miner Johanna Baird, 22 years of Baramita, NWD, which occurred at about 10:00am today at Baramita.
Investigations revealed that Johanna Baird and a fifteen- year-old youth were imbibing at a shop at Baramita, when it is alleged that an argument developed between them during which Johanna Baird slapped the suspect who stabbed him to his neck.
The suspect left and returned with a cutlass, but was confronted by another man in the shop during which he was wounded to his chest and abdomen.
Johanna Baird was pronounced dead on arrival at the Matthews Ridge Hospital, NWD, while the suspect has been admitted a patient under guard.
