Mining School hosts foundational training

Robert_PersaudGeorgetown:  The Guyana Mining School and Training Centre which was scheduled to become operational in January last, has finally launched a set of training courses which commenced from August 15- August 19, 2013.

It is expected to cover areas such as confined space entry (awareness), transportation of dangerous goods, fall protection, and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).

The training, which is being facilitated by the College of the North Atlantic, will target about 15 persons who are already employed in the field of mining.

Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment, Robert Persaud said noted that the mining school would be focusing not only on areas involving mining, but also on the country’s oil and gas sectors as well. He noted that oil and gas in Guyana possess tremendous potential.
