Minister of Foreign Affairs Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett met with His Excellency Ban Ki-Moon, Secretary General of the United Nations in the margins of the 69th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Their discussions focused on the continued involvement of the United Nations Secretary General in the solution of the controversy which arose as the result of the Venezuelan contention that the Arbitral Award of 1899 that definitively settled the land boundary between Guyana and Venezuela, is null and void.
Also discussed were issues pertaining to climate change as well as financing for development in particular, the next Conference to be held in Ethiopia in 2015, preparations for which are being co-chaired by Guyana.
