Port of Spain; Jack Warner, former FIFA vice president, is being highligted as his son Daryan Warner is being named as a key party as a cooporating witness in an investigation. An FBI probe is being carried out into an alleged corruption in international soccer. Among matters under this investigation are two previously reported allegations.
The FBI has been examining more than half a million dollars in payments made by the Caribbean Football Union over the past 2 years to a company in the US headed by Chuck Blazer. During this time Mr. Warner was heading the CFU. The real purpose for the payments is yet to be divulged. However, Blazer claims they were meant to be repayment of a loan he said he loaned to Warner in 2004. Warner told the Trinidad and Tobago media those payments were above board. Internal Revenue Service is also looking into the probe as it leads to potential tax violations in the US. Jack neither his son wished to comment when attempts were made to contact them.
