Foreign Trade Minister, Senator Maxine McClean said fashion designers in Barbados have been frustrated for too long and this must change.
According to McClean, Government is planning to facilitate the needs of designers with the understanding that producing large volumes is their greatest challenge.
Speaking at the official launch of the website of designer, Rykii De Jude, the Minister said her ministry is looking to encourage international designers who may want to have their lines produced in Barbados. De Jude a local designer who secialises in menswear said the issues that faced designers twenty years ago are very much the same in 2013.
He designer lamented the fact that in 2013 Barbados still does not have a fashion design industry and encouraged designers to step out of the box and create pieces that will gain international attention.
