Health Minister Therese Baptiste Cornelis says her ministry will keep its promise to deliver the Scarborough hospital to the Tobago Regional Health Authority before Christmas….despite Nipdec's recent announcement of a four-month delay.
Speaking to reporters in Tobago following today's Cabinet meeting, the Minister said Nipdec intends to complete the construction by September 8th.
She says initially, the plan was to have all fixed and non-fixed equipment installed following the construction; however the minister says Nipdec has agreed to install some equipment parallel to the construction. As such, she says, equipment are already being installed….the last of which will go in between September 8th and 30th.
She says, in this light, Tobago can expect a new hospital for Christmas, but adds that it would take between three and six months to have all services up and running.
She says she intends to tour the hospital Friday morning.
