Ministers move into various regions to assess the flooding situation.

Georgetown: In an effort to prevent the continuous flooding, Government Ministries have done extensive work within the various regions. Ministries’ officials as well as regional and local personnel have during the past couple of days ensured that many of the primary as well as secondary drainage systems, culverts and tubes were cleared allowing for smoother flow of water from the land.
There has also been round-the-clock monitoring of the drainage sluices as well as regular reports compiled and shared across ministries about the affected areas so as to ensure immediate and collaborative interventions by the ministries.Today, Health Minister Dr Bheri Ramsaran and Minister in the Agriculture Ministry Alli Baksh will be in Region Two. In Region Three, Housing and Water Minister Irfaan Ali will visit the West Coast and Local Government and Regional Development Minister Ganga Persaud on the West Bank Demerara.
The East Coast Demerara will be monitored by Culture, Youth and Sport Minister Dr Frank Anthony, Legal Affairs and Attorney General Minister Anil Nandlall and Public Service Minister Dr Jennifer Westford.
Education Minister Priya Manickchand, Human Services and Social Security Minister Jenifer Webster and Presidential Advisor Navin Chandarpaul will monitor Region Five, while Agriculture Minister Dr Leslie Ramsammy and Natural Resources and Environment Minister Robert Persaud will keep an eye on Region six.
