Port of Spain; A man who was pronounced as dead after being involved in an accident on Thursday afternoon is actually alive. Reports on all the Daily newspapers and several radio and television stations, reported that Don Patrick Smith was dead along with two of his co-workers who were also in the vehicle when they ran into a truck.
The other two men are actually dead but Smith 59, is alive and is thanking God for what he is calling a miracle. He is warded at the San Fernando General Hospital. Smith said in an interview while speaking from his hospital bed "I was in the front in the passenger seat, the car hit the truck on my side and went under, I am lucky I came out."
Smith suffered three broken ribs and lacerations about his body, He said the three of them were returning home from work and were all really tired. He said he noticed the driver Anstey Payne nod off, he then attempted to overtake several vehicles and crashed into the truck.
Yesterday Arrive Alive president Sharon Inglefield said that the number of road fatalities to the number of road deaths was 44, compared to last year's figure, which was 43.
