Georgetown: Earlier this week, Region One (Barima-Waini) Ambassador, Divya Yabindranauth, launched her Beauty with a Purpose Campaign for the upcoming Miss World Guyana 2016 Competition. Raised in Tucshen Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo, Divya migrated to the United States of America at the young age of 13. Divya has seen first-hand; the struggles some of her fellow Guyanese face when it comes to healthcare and finding adequate treatment; and from a very young age she vowed to one day make a measurable difference.
Two years ago, she joined forces with Saving Hands Emergency Aid, Inc., (SHEA), a non-profit organization, aimed at providing financial medical assistance coupled with pro-bono or subsidized medical treatment for families in need. As the Regional Director for Guyana, she assist with finding treatment services, raising funds, meeting with patients (especially children), and interactions on person to person basis. Truly honored to be selected as the Regional Ambassador for Region One – Barima Waini in the 2016 edition of the Miss World Guyana competition, Divya seizes this opportunity as a gateway to continue in helping others and making a difference in the world.
Divya’s goal is to raise at least $2,000,000.00 GYD for this cause, and so far she has raise over $220,000.00 GYD via donations from her families, fans and supporters. In the coming weeks, she will be rolling out some fun and exciting initiatives that will help to further fund her Beauty with a Purpose platform. At 20, Divya Yabindranauth is an aspiring model, humanitarian, individualist, and dreamer who is eager to represent Guyana on an international platform. Presently, she resides in Houston, Texas, with her parents and two younger brothers. Divya currently works at W-Industries as an Administration Assistant, while she simultaneously pursues her degree in Business Management. In her free time, she makes frequent visits to children at local area hospitals, and engages in outreach programs through her church. She entered the Miss World Guyana 2016 competition fully confident that she can, and will, represent her beloved country as she has represented SHEA, whereby she personally made a transformation in the lives of those who cannot otherwise help themselves.
