Bridgetown.
The police are investigating the disappearance of more than $500,000 from the government's Treasury Department.
Assistant Commissioner of Police, in charge of crime Seymour Cumberbatch, confirmed the investigation of the Government department but declined to give further comment.
The money is believed to have been siphoned off through cheque payments.
