Siparia: Twenty-year-old Candace Johnson has been granted bail after appearing before a Siparia Magistrate this morning charged with the unlawful killing of two-year-old Aaliyah Johnson.
The matter was called before Magistrate Joanne Connor in the Siparia First Magistrate's Court at 9.30 am.
The charge was read to Johnson stating that on April 8th 2012 at 57 Maria David Trace in San Francique, she unlawfully killed Aaliyah Johnson.
The charge was laid indictably by lead investigator Stephen Ragbir and Johnson was not called upon to plead.
Magistrate Connor granted her bail of $75,000 to be approved by the Clerk of the Peace. Police prosecutor Didgnath Sookraj did not object to bail since Johnson has had no other matters before the court.
Johnson who is two months pregnant was represented by Attorney Surjan Singh.
She will reappear in court on May 24th.
23-year-old labourer Ramdharry Ramjohn had also been arrested for the killing but was released from police custody on Sunday.
