Motor cyclist dead and pedal cyclist hospitalized in road accident.

 

Georgetown : As the Minister of Home Affairs moving to find ways of decreasing the increasing rate of road fatalities countrywide the figure is alarmingly accelerating.Today at Norton Street, Lodge, Georgetown, a motor cycle collided with a mini bus which resulted in the death of motor cyclist Hubert Verwayne,  73 years of Canje Pheasant Lane, South Ruimveldt, and injuries to pedal cyclist Veronica Douglas, 49 years of Norton Street, Wortmanville, Georgetown.

It is alleged that the motor cyclist was proceeding along Victor Street and failed to stop on the approach to Norton Street and collided with mini bus BNN 4990 which was proceeding along Norton Street.  The motor cycle then skid along the road and collided with the pedal cyclist.

The motor cyclist and the pedal cyclist were taken to the Georgetown Hospital where Hubert Verwayne was pronounced dead, while Veronica Douglas was admitted a patient suffering from a fractured right leg.

The driver of the mini bus is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
