Georgetown: A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was inked Wednesday between the Ministry of Housing and Water and Ministry of Amerindian Affairs that will see hundreds of Community Service Officers (CSOs) across Regions One, Seven, Eight and Nine being trained in the monitoring and maintenance of water supply systems.
The MOU was signed at the Guyana Water Incorporated’s Head Office Vlissengen Road and Church Street Georgetown with Ministers of Housing and Water Collin Croal and Susan Rodrigues and Minister of Amerindian Affairs Pauline Sukhai in attendance.
Also present were Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Water, Andre Ally and Permanent Secretary (ag.) of the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs, Ryan Toolsiram.
According to the Housing Ministry, the training which begins in Region Nine Thursday will not only see the development of skills in hinterland youths, but also benefit the communities with the delivery of access to more potable water and also reduce expenses incurred by the water company.
Following the signing Ministers Croal and Rodrigues also inspected a recently acquired PAT rig that will be used for the drilling of several wells across the hinterland.
