MP calls for probe into incident involving Minister of National Security

 Kingston.

Opposition spokeman on National Security  Delroy Chuck is calling for a probe into an incident involving Minister of National Security Peter Bunting on Saturday night.

Chuck told the media that  he was concerned that there have been conflicting reports about whether Bunting was held up or if a villa at which he was visiting friends in Portland was burglarised.

It was initially reported that Bunting and a female companion were held up and robbed by thieves who brandished knives at them.

The Minister  later rejected the report, saying it was a burglary and the items stolen belonged to friends he was visiting in the parish. He said thieves entered through an open window and stole the items from a back room.

According to Chuck he has been told by reliable sources that Bunting was in fact held up.

"It is not only a question of whether or not the allegations from persons who are in the know are true as against Mr Bunting's word," Chuck said,

More importantly, the items were recovered rather quickly during the course of the night. How was that done? Was money paid? And why is it no arrest has been made if the items were so quickly recovered?"

"The public must be given answers to these questions",says Chuck.
