Georgetown : The municipalities of Corriverton, Anna Regina, Rose Hall, New Amsterdam, Linden and Georgetown, in keeping with legislation of Section 155 of the Municipal and District Council Act Chapter 2801, presented for approval their budget estimates for the financial year 2013 to Minister within the Ministry of Local Government Norman Whittaker.
The six municipalities presented the budget under the theme “The Budget as a medium for promoting effective and efficient Municipal Governance.” Also present was Deputy Permanent Secretary Abena Moore.
Minister Whittaker speaking at the presentation at the Ministry’s Kingston office was in high praise for the municipalities completing for submission their budget and working to overcome whatever challenges may have hindered this process.
He said that a budget is a municipality’s most important tool for allocating resources and among its various departments, and that this allocation should be reflective of the input of the councillors and staff of the council and the residents within the municipality.
