NAB workers still on strike

Bridgetown.

Staff at the National Assistance Board (NAB) who walked of the job on Monday says they will remaind on strike until Thursday.

Tracy Nightingale, a  shop steward with the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW), the represenative of workers told Trakker News a meeting between the NUPW and the management of the NAB held yesterday did not resolve the matter and otther meeting is planned for tomorrow.

Over 100 workers with the NAB's Home Help division, began industrial action on Monday in protest of  the NAB refusal to appoint Enid Maynard a worker of 30 years to one of the three vacant positions of team leader.

The workers are of the view that the NAB's requirement that a team leader should possess four CXC certificates in order to qualify for the post as ridiculous.

Senor Industrial Officer with the NUPW Wayne Waldron, told Trakker News there is no legal provision for the requirement of certification for a worker to be appointed a team leader.
