St. Kitts Nevis: The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) has a new Vice-President (Operations), Dr. Carla Barnett, a national of Belize, according to a report in The St Kitts Nevis Observer.
Dr. Barnett is a Consultant Economist with extensive experience at the executive level of the public service in Belize and in the CARICOM region. Her work experience includes service as Financial Secretary and Chief Executive Officer at the Ministry of National Development, Belize; Deputy Secretary General at the Caribbean Community Secretariat, Guyana; and Deputy Governor/Acting Governor at the Central Bank of Belize, among others. She has also served as a Director on the CDB Board of Directors, the Observer stated.
As Vice-President (Operations), Dr. Barnett will have primary responsibility for, inter alia, the formulation of the Bank’s assistance programme for each borrowing member country and the management of the Bank’s portfolio of capital and technical assistance projects.
The new CDB Vice-President holds a Ph.D. in Social Sciences from the University of the West Indies, Jamaica; a Masters degree in Economics from the University of Western Ontario, Canada, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of the West Indies, Jamaica.
Her appointment took effect from March 1, 2012, the Observer reported.
