Bridgetown.
New Chief Justice, Marston Gibson, plans to watch carefully before making any statements on how he plans to approach is new job.
Speaking to the media, shortly after being sworn into office by Governor General Sir Clifford Husbands at Government House yesterday, Gibson said it is his intention to look and listen because he need to get the lay of the land and get an ideal of what is happening.
"It is easy to have ideals when you are not yet exposed to the context in which you are going to work and there you have to look and listen. Once I have done that, I will do what I need to do," Gibson said.
He added that his ultimate and objective was to follow in the rich traditions of the prior Chief Justices of this noble country of ours, and to leave the system when his term is over a better place than he found it.
Gibson took the oath of office as his mother, Hazel Gibson and other relatives and friends looked on.
