New general to replace QEH

Bridgetown.

The Government of Barbados will construct a new general hospital to replace the 47 year old Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH).Minister of Health Donville Inniss made the announcement at a Press conference held at Government Headquarters  yesterday.

Inniss estimated that it would cost more than $800 million to construct the new hospital and  that  Government would seek to raise funds internationally.

While he was unable to say when construction would commence, Inniss explained that three location had been identified so far .

According to Inniss, the construction of the new hospital would be one of the biggest development projects to be undertaken in Barbados in the last couple of decades.
