New home for vendors

Bridgetown.

Vendors who ply their trade around the Fairchild Bus Terminal are to be relocated to a newly build market at Probyn Street.

Minister of Health Donville Inniss made the announcement during a tour to the bus terminal and the Fairchild Street Market.

Inniss described the old Fairchild Street Market as a dumping ground. He maintained such an eyescore was not reflective of the standards existent in contemporary Barbadian society.

"It is not Barbadian, it is not the standard that we are that we are willing to accept in the Ministry of Health , so we are here to do something about it", says Inniss.

He stated it was the intention of the Government to relocate the vendors currently operating at  Fairchild Street, to more sanitary conditions at Probyn Street which will provide facilities for 42 vendors.

Inniss said he was hopeful that the vendors would be co-operative in the Government's efforts to relocate them to the new site.
