A new market is to be constructed at Fairchild Street in Bridgetown.
Minister of Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and Water Resource Management, Dr David Estwick made the announcement in the House of Assembly yesterday.
Speaking on a resolution to approve $576,000 for the Ministry of Agriculture to compete the relocation of vendors from the forecourt of the existing market at at Fairchild Street Market to Probyn Square.
Estwick explained that the money will be used to build kiosks and for additional electrical work that has to be done at Probyn Square to accommodate the vendors from the Fairchild Street Market, paving the way for the Government to construct a facility which will form part of the Fairchild Street Redevelopment Project.
