Bridgetown.
The Government of Barbados will not be issuing any new licences for low cost carrier Redjet to fly within the region.
Minister of International Transport and International Trade, George Hutson, revealed last night that the Barbados based airline will not be given permission to fly new routes until an evaluation of these routes are done.
"The licening will happen once we have done the appropriate evaluation routes,as well as some of the other challenges we are facing in civil aviation", Hutson said.
Last week, chief executive officer of Redjet, Ian Burns, told the press, the airline had not received permission from the Civil Aviation Department in Barbados, to fly into St Lucia.
Hutson stressed that Redjet cannot be allowed to opperate to the detriment of LIAT of which Barbados is a major shareholder.
