Environmental technical officer at the Environmental Protection Departmen Philip Pile, says Barbados needs to improve its efforts to protect human health and the environment from the potential negative impact of chemicals.
According to Pile in an effort to address this deficiency, the Environmental Protection Department is undertaking a project to establish nationwide standardization through the globally harmonised system of classification and labelling of chemicals.
Pile told Trakker News ariculture, transport, industrial workplaces and consumer products are the likely focal points, as they are the areas where people are more likely to come into contacts with chemicals.
