A new company is entering the telecommunication market in Barbados, Karib Cable has been granted an information and telecommunication to operate on the island.
The company is already operating in Antigua, St Lucia and St Vincent and the Grenadines, it offers cable television, boardband connectivity and fixed line telephone services through the use of fibre optics.
Founder and managing director of Karib Cable Kelly Glass, told a media launch the company is investing $65 million to set up in Barbados operations and is aiming to take over 50 percent or more of the market by proving not only better service but better value for money.
"Karibe Cable has the financial, operational and technical capability, as well as regional presence to compete in the local telecommunication market in a meanful manner. We will show this through the provision of improved service and offering the people of Barbados better value for money", Glass said.
He added that Karib Cable will employ 200 people in Barbados and should be offering its service to the public within 4 months.
