Michael Muirhead the newly appointed chief executive officer of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) is hoping for an harmonious relationship with the West Indies Players Association (WIPA).

Speaking at his first press conference since he was appointed to the top post in the WICB Muirhead said:

"I am one who believes in establishing harmonious relationshipsand all I ask for people to be rational in  thought.  In my tenure, I will expect that we will have total harmony in due course and I will establish relations with players, with WIPA and with everyone concerned with cricket because it is something that I believe him and it is something I have the knack for", Muirhead said.

"Michael Hall the CEO of WIPA has been my personal friend for a long time, I have known Michael  long before he became involved in the matters of WIPA, so I don't think being the CEO of WIPA will change our relationship. Michael  has indicted  that he is willing to sit at the table, so we are confident that matters will reach resolutions harmoniously", he added.

Muirhead, a 55  Jamaican year old management consultant said he could not conspire to come into West Indies cricket at a better time.

"This is an incomparable opportunity to serve our great regional game and I am indeed delighted at confidence the Board has reposed in me. We are at an historic moment in West Indies cricket. We are at a juncture where West Indies cricket is coming out of a difficult season of change. The season is not yet compete but I would like to think that we have emerged from the roughest waters, Muirhead said.

The media conference was held at Kensington Oval and was attended by president of the WICB Dr Julian Hunte and WICB  director Joel Garner.
