Georgetown: The University of Guyana Law Society (UGLS) recently made donations to three institutions with the aim of starting their tenure on what they believe is the right footing.
The UGLS earlier this month elected a new President and Vice President, as both executives promise to raise the bar and standards within the Law Department by involving corporate stakeholders and interested parties.
“We knew that the 220 students of the department would have been able to contribute items of clothing and accessories, toys, and books which would aid those in need. Our first donation was made to the pediatric ward of the Georgetown Public Hospital where clothing, toys and books were handed over to Ms. Ronda Henry and Dr. Sara Singh, for the children of the ward.” UGLS Vice President Devin Singh noted “We then made our way to the Guyana Relief Council, where donations of clothing were made to Ms Lynette Carter to aid those affected by instances such as fires . The final institution we visited was the Bless the Children’s Home Orphanage in Industry, where we gave books, clothing and stationery. The foundations visited were extremely grateful for our contributions and the UGLS on behalf of the Department of Law was delighted to give back and see the joy and gratitude that the young children and representatives of these organizations had. The UGLS hopes that we can continue to give back, in whatever little way we can so that, if even for one second we could help to put a smile on someone’s face.”
