No cuts at CIL

Bridgetown.

The judicial manager for CLICO International Life (CIL) has dismissed rumours that employees of the comany will be laid of this month.

Oliver Jordan, a partner at Deloittte Consulting Oiver Jordan who along with Patrick Toppin was appointed by the Court to oversee the management of the cash strapped company, cleared the air after employees attending a meeting last month expressed concerns in the press that they might be laid off.

According to Jordan, that is not the case:"At no time were employees informed that they ccould be laid off as early as March. There is a timetable set by the judicial manager which aims at completion of the last round of reporting to the courts in all territories by March 31", Jordan told the press.

He isisted that during last month's address to the staff in Barbados which was broadcast in all the islands were CIL operates, the staff was free to raise their concerns and pose questions.

Jordan said at no time did any of them express dissatisfaction with the answers provided.

Since taking control of the insolvent insurance company in April 2011, the judicial manager has filed several reports outlining his findings and recommendations. The most recent update was submitted on October 19, last year.
