Barbadians will have to wait a while before The value added tax (VAT) is restored to 15 percecent from the current at 17.5, Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler is expected to bring a Bill before Parliament on Tuesday seeking to amend the VAT Act, which will keep the currenr rate in place until further notice.
According to the Order Paper, the amendment will also keep in place the 8.75 percent hotels, guess houses and simillar establishment.
In his November 2010 Budget, Sinckler announced an increase in the VAT from 15 percent for a period of 18 months after which there be a reveiw, that 18 months period expires on May 31.
