Port of Spain; Popular talk show host Ian Alleyne will no longer be hosting his evening show on TV6 due to the non-renewal of his contract . The television station stated that they were unable to meet his demands and therefore had to end his contract on April 10, 2013.
This action follows a year of mishaps for Mr. Alleyne who was on and off the air at various times following charges against him last year, which stemmed from the airing of a video on his program Crime Watch, where a 13 year old girl was being raped. This action led to him being charged under the Sexual Offenses Act
He was also charged with resisting arrest to which he initially pleaded not guilty, but at a later court appearance he changed his plea to guilty. He was eventually fined $30,000, with respect to the charges.
His show was considered popular because he sought to assist the citizens who felt as though the police service was not giving them any justice or attention. He was able to help solve a number of their problems and got information from callers who were able to divulge valuable tips to solve crimes. The TV station became popular due to his talk show as they expressed their thanks to the host and wished him all the best in his future endeavors.
Efforts to reach Mr. Alleyne yesterday proved futile.
