A former cabinet minister says there is no rift between former leader of the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) Mia Mottley and current leader Owen Arthur.
Former Minister of Housing in the previous BLP administration Liz Thompson give this assurance at a BLP meeting earlier this week.
Thompson said that many people were question the status of the relationship between Mottley and Arthur and the impact it will have if the party won the government.
"In political parties fights for leadership will occur. Nobody can say that Mia has made any negative statements about Owen in the public domain. Mia to her credit, is working every day and night for Owen Arthur and a BLP victory because believes that he has the skills that the country needs at this time". Thompson said.
"Mia is clearly at comfort with her relationship with Owen", Thompson told the crowd at a meeting in Ruby Park, St Philip.
Thompson was fired from the post of Minister of Health by Arthur in the late 1990s and re-appointed to the Cabinet as Minister of Housing in 2002.
She is currenty a Assistant General Secetary with the United Nations.
