Bridgetown.
Five political broadcasts will be aired on the state run Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) but there will be no debates between the members of the parties contesting the general elections, this was revealed to the media by Owen Estwick, the chairman of the Electoral and Boundaries Commission.
According to Estwick, the ruling Democratic Labour Party (DLP) will have three broadcasts and the opposition Barbados Labour Party (BLP) two.
The DLP's two 15 minutes broadcast will be aired on Tuesday, February 12 and on Friday, 15, with a final half hour address expected to be given by Prime Minister Freundel Stuart on February 19.
The first 15 minutes BLP address is scheduled for Wednesday February 13 and the second by Leader of the Opposition Owen Arthur on February 17.
Estwick said before the recorded messages are aired they will be scrutinizes by members of the Electoral and Boundaries Commission to ensure they were not in breach of any rules under which the commission was govern.
"The broadcasts have to certified and cleared before they reach the airwaves. We will have to do those checks for each and every broadcast", Estwick said.
