Nand Krishna Singh, a Guyanese illegal immigrant of Flat Rock, St George, was remanded to HMP Dodds when he appeared in the District A Traffic Court yesterday.
The 34 year old carpenter, was not required to plead to attempting to dishonestly obtain $18,750 from the Bank of Nova Scotia on Monday by falsely representing that a First Caribbean cheque for the sum was a good and valid order and that he had the authority to draw the cheque.
Prosecutor Sergeant Janice Ifill, in objecting to bail for Singh said Guyanese had not status and the Immigration Department had an interest in him.
Magistrate Douglas Frederick, remanded Singh to HMP Dodds until Monday.
