Georgetown: Several employees of the Government Information Agency (GINA) left their jobs over the past few weeks due to non-payment of their salaries.
Just like last year, GINA’s $135,858,000, was reduced $1 by opposition parties who used their majority in the National Assembly to slash the budget for the agency.
The Opposition parties A Partnership For National Unity (APNU) and Alliance Fort Change (AFC) believe GINA through its programming has not been serving in the best interest of the nation but has rather been operating as a political mouthpiece for government. Other employees left the job over the past five months.
Recently GINA employees staged a sit in exercise to protest the non-payment of their salaries for the past three months.
