Not crossing the floor says MP

Bridgetown.

Veteran member of the opposition  Barbados Labour Party (BLP) Rawle Eastmond, has denied he is having discussions with the ruling Democratic Labour Party (DLP) about joining their side.

Eastmond, the Member of Parliament for St James North for 24 years was informed by the General secretary of the BLP Peter Philips on October 5 last year that the executive of his branch has written a letter requesting a nomination be held in the riding.

Last month Eastmond wrote to Sabrina Haynes the secretary of the branch stating he will not be talking part in the nomination process.

Eastmond told Trakker News he did not trust the process because the party's national council met with seven members of branch executive  last month and did not invite him to the meeting.

He expressed concerns about padding on the branch list stating:"I wrote to the Leader of the Opposition Owen Arthur and the national council since 2010 complaining about the padded branch list. I had no response to that letter, in addition I  have not met with the leader of the BLP since this confusion has arisen", Eastmond said.
