Port-of-Spain: State-owned National Petroleum says fuel distribution to the nation's service stations continued today despite protests by NP workers, and at one this afternoon NP said almost 80 loads of fuel had left its Sealots compound.
NP says distribution is continuing in the North and East/West Corridor.
In addition Unipet is also filling from the bond at Pointe-a-Pierre to service the Central and Southern regions of Trinidad. Tobago has remained unaffected by industrial action.
Energy Minister Carolyn Seepersad-Bachan, is assuring meantime that there is no shortage of fuel and supplies will continue to be delivered. The minister says her office will continue to monitor the situation in collaboration with NP and will continue updating the nation on developments.
NP officials today met with the representing Oilfields Workers Trade Union and agree to review several health and safety concerns that led to the protest but the union says it will be keeping the government in check to fulfill its promises, or more protests will follow.
